WASHINGTON, DC -- NAB President and CEO Gordon Smith testified this morning before the U.S. Senate Subcommittee on Communications, Technology, and the Internet at a hearing on the "State of Video."

Deborah Norville, host of the nation's top-rated syndicated newsmagazine "Inside Edition," will serve as master of ceremonies at the NAB Education Foundation's (NABEF) fourteenth annual Celebration of Service to America Awards. Mallory Hagan, Miss America 2013, will make an appearance. Held Monday, June 3 at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center, the celebration recognizes broadcasters for outstanding service to their local communities.

WASHINGTON, D.C. – In response to local radio and television broadcasters providing comprehensive news coverage of yesterday's devastating tornado that struck Moore, Oklahoma, the following statement can be attributed to NAB President and CEO Gordon Smith:

Ginny Hubbard Morris, chair of Hubbard Radio LLC, will receive the National Radio Award during the Radio Show Luncheon, Friday, September 20. The luncheon will take place during the 2013 Radio Show, jointly produced by the National Association of Broadcasters (NAB) and Radio Advertising Bureau (RAB), September 18-20 in Orlando.

The NAB Education Foundation (NABEF) announced the application deadline for the 2014 Broadcast Leadership Training program (BLT) is May 31. The program is designed to prepare senior broadcasters, particularly women and people of color, to own and operate radio and television stations or move into more senior positions within the industry.


WASHINGTON, D.C. – In response to today's announcement that Marty Franks, CBS Executive Vice President, Planning, Policy and Government Affairs, will retire effective September 30, the following statement can be attributed to NAB President and CEO Gordon Smith:

The 15th annual Celebration of Service to America Awards, produced by the NAB Education Foundation (NABEF), will take place Monday, June 3 in Washington, D.C. Recognized among the top Washington events, the gala will honor radio and television broadcasters from across the country for exceptional community service. The event will also include the presentation of NABEF's highest honor, the Service to America Leadership Award, to Stevie Wonder, with four-time Grammy Award nominee Oleta Adams performing a musical tribute to Wonder.
