MIAMI, FL – The National Association of Broadcasters (NAB), Florida Association of Broadcasters (FAB) and Dyle™ mobile TV announced today that mobile TV devices will be provided to Florida's State Emergency Response Team (SERT) as part of a pilot program to assist first responders with accessing important information during the 2013 hurricane season. Details of the mobile TV pilot program were unveiled today at a joint news conference at Florida International University, Wall of Wind Research Center.

The National Association of Broadcasters Board of Directors met this week for its regularly scheduled summer board meeting. Below is a summary of actions taken by the Board:

WASHINGTON, DC -- Schurz Communications Senior Vice-President of Broadcasting Marci Burdick testified this morning before the U.S. House Subcommittee on Communications and Technology at a hearing entitled "The Satellite Television Law: Repeal, Reauthorize, or Revise?"

The National Association of Broadcasters and Radio Advertising Bureau will offer two new conference tracks, the Programming Masters Series and Sales Consultants' Corner, both on Friday, September 20 at the 2013 Radio Show in Orlando.

Speaking proposals are now being accepted for the 2014 NAB Show, held April 5-10 in Las Vegas, Nevada. In addition to the world’s largest expo of advanced media and entertainment technologies, NAB Show offers unparalleled educational opportunities that demonstrate how continuing innovations in digital media may generate new business and career opportunities.

WASHINGTON, DC -- A bipartisan group of six Members of Congress and a Senator have join on as co-sponsors of a resolution that opposes "any new performance fee, tax, royalty, or other charge" on local broadcast radio stations. The Local Radio Freedom Act is now currently co-sponsored by 139 Members of the House and 11 Senators.

WASHINGTON, D.C.– New research from GfK Media & Entertainment shows that the estimated number of Americans now relying exclusively on over-the-air (OTA) television broadcasting increased to 59.7 million, up from 54 million just a year ago. The percentage of TV households currently OTA reliant has now grown from 14% in 2010 to 19.3% in the current survey, a 38% increase in just four years. The recently completed survey also found that the demographics of broadcast-only households continue to skew toward younger adults, minorities and lower-income families.
