Investigative Reporter

Job Description

WCHS/WVAH is seeking an experienced and dynamic Investigative Reporter to join our award-winning news team. The ideal candidate will be passionate about uncovering stories, holding the powerful accountable, and delivering high-impact journalism that makes a difference. This position requires a self-starter with strong storytelling skills and the ability to manage complex investigations from start to finish.


Responsibilities



  • Develop, research, and execute investigative stories that resonate with local and regional audiences.

  • Use public records, data analysis, and in-depth interviews to uncover original stories.

  • Collaborate with producers, photographers, and editors to create compelling on-air and digital presentations.

  • Build and maintain a network of sources to stay ahead of issues affecting our community.

  • Adhere to the highest journalistic standards, ensuring accuracy, fairness, and transparency.

  • Represent the station at community events and maintain a strong social media presence to engage with viewers.


Qualifications



  • Bachelor's degree in journalism, communications, or a related field.

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in investigative journalism or a related role.

  • Strong understanding of media law and ethics.

  • Proven track record of breaking impactful stories and delivering enterprise content.

  • Proficiency in multimedia platforms, including shooting and editing video.

  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
