Job Description

CHIEF ENGINEER


 


WVRC Media has a rare position for a Chief Engineer to join, train, and work with one of the best engineering and highly skilled I.T. staffs in the country. We are looking for a self-motivated and dedicated individual that would have a burning desire to oversee digital audio and transmission systems from studio to the final air product. The candidate should be able and willing to perform the following functions and duties:


* Serve as designated Chief Operator by maintaining accurate transmission and maintenance logs and operate within established FCC guidelines and rules.


* Possess a working knowledge of the Emergency Alert System.


* Have advanced knowledge of AM-FM transmission systems and antennas.


* Maintain directional and non-directional AM transmission systems.


* Be proficient with computers, networking, and AOIP systems.


* Demonstrate an immediate sense of urgency during emergency situations.


* Maintain all transmitter sites and associated facilities.


* Possess an advanced knowledge of electronic theory and troubleshooting.


* Must be willing to learn new skills and procedures by working with our trained staff, reading technical manuals, and updated bulletins and periodicals.


* Oversee the daily operation of the entire broadcast plant to ensure delivery of a quality product to the listeners and advertisers.


* Maintain constant communications with programming, sales, and management personnel.


* Must be willing to occasionally travel to other markets to assist with special projects or cover for other engineers on leave.


* Any SBE certification and I.T. experience is highly desirable.


 


The open position will be based in the Charleston, WV market. The facilities include 4-FM stations, 2-directional AM stations, and one main studio building. One of the heritage AM stations is also a FEMA Primary Entry Point and back-up transmission facility.
