Job Description

WBOY is looking for a Broadcast Engineer to join the team at north central West Virginia's top-rated TV station.  We focus on producing large market quality, while working in the family atmosphere of a small market. We work in a friendly community with a great pace of life and easy access to lots of outdoor beauty and recreation, all within quick reach of many large, metropolitan areas.

Duties include: 



  • Maintain, troubleshoot, and repair all broadcast technology and equipment at the station and transmitter sites.

  • Ensure station compliance with FCC rules and regulations, as well as local, state, and federal laws.

  • Assist in planning, implementing, and maintaining technical infrastructure, including new technologies.

  • Assist with coordinating fiber connectivity, production setups, A/V routing and patching, audio equipment, graphics systems, and editing systems.

  • Evaluate, install, and maintain IT systems critical to station operations, including media workflows.

  • Assist with the oversight and maintenance the station’s building infrastructure and vehicle fleet, including satellite and ENG trucks.

  • Ensure redundancy and reliability in critical systems for uninterrupted on-air operations.

  • Serve as an operational and technical resource to station staff.

  • Perform other duties as assigned



Requirements & Skills:



  • Technical degree in Digital Electronics, Broadcasting, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and work-related experience

  • Fluency in English

  • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written

  • Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record

  • Experience with digital electronics systems in a television broadcasting environment

  • Proficiency with computers, telephones, copiers, scanners, fax machines and other office equipment

  • Strong PC/Microsoft Office experience

  • Experience with fiber connectivity, production setups, A/V routing and patching, audio equipment, graphics systems and editing systems

  • Experience with digital transmitters, microwave equipment, and other broadcast-related equipment

  • Experience evaluating, selecting, installing, servicing and maintaining broadcasting industry equipment and information technology systems

  • Ability to meet deadlines, prioritize assignments and handle multiple tasks simultaneously
