NAB Backs Resolution Opposing New Performance Fee on Local Radio

WASHINGTON, D.C. – The National Association of Broadcasters today expressed support for a bipartisan resolution co-sponsored by 73 Members of Congress recognizing the promotional value of music on free and local radio stations. The Local Radio Freedom Act (H. Con. Res. 16), introduced by Reps. Michael Conaway (R-Texas) and Gene Green (D-Texas), signals opposition to any potential legislation that would impose new performance royalties on broadcast radio stations for music airplay.

FCC Chairman Julius Genachowski to Participate in Question-and-Answer Session at 2013 NAB Show

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Federal Communications Commission Chairman Julius Genachowski will participate in a question-and-answer session at the 2013 NAB Show in Las Vegas, the National Association of Broadcasters (NAB) announced today. Genachowski will sit down for a conversation with NAB Joint Board Chair Paul Karpowicz, president of Meredith Corporation - Local Media Group, on Wednesday, April 10 at 9 a.m. in Las Vegas.

Bob Schieffer to Receive NAB Distinguished Service Award

The National Association of Broadcasters (NAB) announced today that Bob Schieffer, renowned broadcast television journalist for CBS, will receive the NAB Distinguished Service Award (DSA) during the 2013 NAB Show. Schieffer will accept the award at the opening keynote session, sponsored by Blackmagic Design, on April 8 in Las Vegas.

New RF Boot Camp Added to 2013 NAB Show

NAB Show will hold a new Radio Frequency (RF) Boot Camp on Wednesday, April 10 as part of the Broadcast Engineering Conference in Las Vegas. The day-long training program presented by NAB Labs will help attendees expand their knowledge and understanding of radio and television RF transmission.

NAB Crystal Radio Award Finalists Announced

The National Association of Broadcasters announced the 50 finalists for the 26th Annual Crystal Radio Awards. Since 1987, the NAB Crystal Radio Awards have recognized radio stations for their outstanding year-round commitment to community service. Winners will be announced and the finalists will be honored at the NAB Radio Luncheon. The Luncheon, sponsored by ASCAP, will be held Tuesday, April 9 during the 2013 NAB Show in Las Vegas.

2013 NAB Show Launches SPROCKIT to Shine Spotlight on Startups

NAB Show today announced it is launching SPROCKIT, a new program which will give 10 market-ready startup companies the opportunity to present their product or service directly to influencers in media and entertainment. During the custom-curated, invitation-only experience, startups will present their offerings live to decision makers, industry visionaries, global media and potential funders at the 2013 NAB Show, the world's largest media and entertainment event with more than 90,000 attendees to be held April 6-11, 2013 in Las Vegas.
