Job Description

Sports Director

WVVA Television in Bluefield, WV has an exciting opportunity in our sports department.

This West Virginia based station that fully produces and televises live college football games in HD is looking for a high-energy sports director to oversee its department as the chief sports and content producer.

The successful candidate does more than just rattle off scores and highlights. Our next sports director is a true sports journalist delivering great storytelling. We want passion, fun and personality that can be shared with viewers. This position requires you to anchor, shoot, write, edit, produce, and coordinate coverage.

Home of the best high school coverage in the market, you will need to demonstrate how you can aggressively use social media to engage and respond to our community and embrace the multi-platform approach of today’s newsroom.

This is not an entry-level position. Sports anchoring and reporting experience is required, along with a degree in journalism or communications.

WVVA is part of Quincy Media, Inc., a family owned media Company operating television stations in 15 markets. This means internal opportunities and professional growth.
