Description

WSAZ-TV in Huntington-Charleston, W.Va. seeks a Digital News Executive Producer to lead its highly-successful digital and social news products and drive user engagement to the next level. 

Candidates for this position must be aggressive, digitally-savvy journalists who are creative and innovative in how they approach all aspects of news content and technology. The ideal candidate will have a strong sense of ownership over all aspects of WSAZ’s digital platforms. We are looking for an impact player who never quits, pushes the product forward, challenges others to be at the top of their game and has high expectations for himself or herself and the news team. 

Daily duties will include coordinating and editing content for the station’s web, mobile and social media sites, staying on top of and coaching the news staff on digital and social media advances, training users on equipment and software, developing effective digital content creation workflow plans for the newsroom, writing news stories, and assisting with general newsroom duties.

Qualifications
  • A minimum 2 years of daily news experience and experience with a web content management system.
  • In-depth knowledge of web, mobile and social media content creation, best practices and traffic analytics.
  • Understanding of information technology, networks and Windows-based operating systems
  • Demonstrated ability to write well in both broadcast and web (AP style) formats
  • Understanding of legalities with regard to television and digital content
  • Ability to work in a team environment and under continuous deadlines
  • Familiar with newsroom computer systems
  • A college degree
